This cooperative program between the Department of Biomedical Engineering at TCNJ and the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Rutgers University allows academically qualified students to receive a BSBME from TCNJ and an MS from Rutgers in a shortened time frame. Accepted students can typically complete the master’s degree in one year following graduation from TCNJ. Time to completion depends on the nature of the MS program and academic progress after matriculating at Rutgers. Students apply by submitting their application materials to the department chair by May 1st of their junior year. After review by TCNJ and Rutgers program coordinators, students are typically notified of their status by June 1st.
Eligibility and application requirements:
- 3.2 GPA after junior year
- Personal statement addressing your career interests and how the master’s degree fits in
those goals - Recommendation for a TCNJ BME faculty member who can comment on academic
capabilities and ability to be successful in graduate-level coursework - Unofficial transcript
TCNJ Graduate-Level Courses
Accepted students will take three graduate-level courses at TCNJ:
- BME 550 – Heat & Mass Biotransport
- BME 573 – Bioinstrumentation
- BME 580 – Physiological Modeling
All courses require a final grade of C or better. Enrollment in 500-level courses is by department permission only.
